    Lunar Afflicted

The Afflicted are not technically their own race by the standard definition. The Afflicted are people from across Esterin that were affected by the Tvarians during battle. The most common form of endowment for this curse was being bitten. Those who suffer from Affliction are spurned and considered cursed.

While newly turned may have a loss of control and only 2 forms, most afflicted are capable of changing at will between their original race, their fully bestial form, and a form somewhere in between. Beastforms can be any standard animal such as a wolf, panther, or bear to give a few examples and this beast form is generally larger than its real-life counterpart.

Towards the end of an Afflicted's life, or if they have stayed shifted for too long, the Afflicted can lose the ability to revert back to their more civilized form which eventually leads them to become a Forsaken Afflicted.

This affliction can affect changelings, dwarves, elves, gnomes, goblins, humans, and orcs.

An afflicted can curse another by biting them in their beast form during a full moon. A person cannot be born afflicted.

Those who are afflicted lose the ability to channel mana for any reason or purpose. Afflicted are controlled by the Moon and are required to shift when it is full. They retain some beast-like qualities (hearing, sense of smell, agility) in their natural form.

    Corrupted

Most common among those who bathed within the Sun’s light, Corrupted individuals are those that have lost their way within the Frontier or Dark Reaches. They have become consumed with madness, darkness, hatred, villainy, or some type of visual demarcation of their refusal to cleanse themselves. Although any species is potentially corruptible, it is most common among elementals and glisari.

    Vampire (Standard)

Any bipedal, sentient creature can be cursed with vampirism; the only exception to this are dragons. As the curse upon these individuals is a blood curse, it will take someone of significant power to remove it. When a vampire is turned, their aging stops at the point of creation. Theoretically, vampires can live forever.

Vampires come in many different types and have species specific names:

    • Elder Sire - at least 100 years old and can turn others
    • Damphyr - a changed elf (of any subspecies) with vampirism
    • Fledgling - a newly turned vampire

All vampires possess fangs and red eyes. Vampires must drink blood from sentient creatures to keep their bloodlust in check. If a vampire falls to their hunger, they go on a rampage that could lead to their untimely demise. If a subject offers their blood willingly to a vampire, the blood will temporarily increase the vampire’s physical abilities beyond their origin species, which has led to a practice of certain fighters donating blood regularly. Additionally, vampires have enhanced dark vision, blood sense, and a heightened sense of smell. Every vampire must have a sire. Vampires have a poison bite that can paralyze their victims.
