The Rules in Tenebris Realm seem are not all encompassing. As the server grows, the rules and expectations for members and staff will shift and change depending on our population and needs. To be a member of Tenebris Realm, you are required to read the rules and understand them.

General Behavior

  1. Follow discord's community guidelines:

  2. The age requirement for this server is 18+.

  3. We are not responsible for player to player interactions outside of the server. If a member is trying to dox you for information as a result of your membership in TR, please report it to us. This is the only actionable issue we can address.

  4. If you are being exceptionally problematic, a nuisance, or are making a significant amount of people uncomfortable you will be warned (or if needed) banned.

  5. You are required to post a sample in #rp-samples. More information on this is located in the Next Step channel (in server).

  6. Keep topics relevant to channels.

  7. Do not vent, spam, or troll.

  8. No Un @ able nicknames

  9. Do not abuse the pingable roles, you will be warned only once

  10. Review our warning system:

  11. Familiarize yourself with the concept of Geek Social Fallacies:

  12. Our Portal is not a revolving door. You cannot come in and out as you please. If you leave and attempt to gain reentry, there will be a 48 hour cool down period before you can do so.

Activity Expectations

  1. You are expected to create your first character within 1 month of entry.

  2. The landing zone is purged on an as-needed basis.

  3. Sheetless are kicked at the end of every season if they have not engaged with the server (either through character creation or general discussion).

  4. Tenebris Realm is an EXCEPTIONALLY active roleplay server, you will not be able to participate in every possible event, bounty, or quest.

  5. If you leave the server your characters will be deleted and your progress towards Veteran status (or above) reset.

  6. We understand that a lot of life events happen. As such we encourage people to make time for themselves and to mark their person as being on ‘Hiatus.’ However, with Hiatus there are some guidelines:

    • Hiatus is defined as a TOTAL ABSENCE from the server, aka no communication, no activity, no roleplaying

    • You cannot be on Hiatus for more than 1 season (appx 3months - exceptions to this are on a case by case basis)

    • Members found abusing this will be warned and eventually kicked

  7. In addition to creating your character within 1 month of entry, you are also required to role play at least once within 1 month of the approval of your first character. Members who do not do so will be kicked.

  8. Existing members: Failing to role play at least once within an active season, without notification of a proper hiatus, will result in the loss of one rank of Server Status (ex: Exalted would fall to Veteran). Members who lose a rank must be active for the required time after their return to gain their old rank back (Ex: 3 months from Exalted back up to Renowned).

Staff Duties

  1. There are different levels of staff, you can read more about them here:

  2. Trial Gamemasters, if under 21, must go through a 2 season Trial Period.

  3. Do not step in as a ‘mini-mod’ if there is no admin around. Alert a Trial Gamemaster, GM, or HGM by tagging the role if there are questions about the lore or server.

  4. Gamemasters are the only people who should be giving character feedback without supervision. Trial Gamemaster can give feedback if there is a standard mod online.

  5. You are welcome to answer general questions, however if something is not explicitly written in the #lore-player-resources you do not know the answer. Allow a staff member to answer.

  6. If we notice you are continuing to answer lore and character questions incorrectly you will be warned.

  7. Staff are available to review your questions, roleplay, and to host events. Please be sure to keep these questions to #lore-discussion and #character-discussion. Under no circumstances are you to DM a staff member questions about your character unless they explicitly allow it. This is to preserve visibility of the character creation process as well to dissuade hand holding.

  8. Gamemasters and Head Gamemasters hand out official warnings, kicks, and bans. Anyone banned or booted will be in the same named channel #banned-and-booted.

  9. Do not DM Reiko. If there is an issue the owner needs to specifically address, the owner will reach out to you. If there is a situation that requires Reiko's attention, Reiko will be informed by the Staff team.

Everything Else

Tenebris Realm as intellectual property:

General Roleplay Guidelines

  1. The ‘minimum’ for our passive replies are 6 (six) sentences. Please try to maintain this standard. This is waived during active events/bounties.

  2. Do not powerplay, godmode, exhibit omniscience or omnipresence. This includes keeping IC/OOC knowledge separate.

  3. Keep contextual interactions with the environment in mind. Take note of the scene’s settings (temperature, population, location) and act accordingly.

  4. Assume realistic consequences. Dangerous actions can incur injuries, illegal actions can result in justice, etc. Your character(s) can and will be punished for blatant, egregious actions.

  5. Keep a sense of continuity. Tenebris Realm works on a loose timeline, but at max the same character can be involved in: 1 active weekly event, 1 active bounty (not at the same time as the event), 1 passive RP, and 1 passive event OR bounty. This rule does not apply to Head Gamemasters or Reiko.

  6. You are allowed to use dicebots, pictures, and linked audio files in the roleplay channels to enhance roleplay. However, do not abuse and spam channels.

  7. You are allowed to leave a scene if your partner has not responded 3 (three) days; however, please attempt communicating OOC to confirm interest.

  8. Respect other roleplays and ask those already in a scene in OOC if you can join.

  9. Multiple RP scenes can occur in the same room.

  10. If you are uninterested in an RP after you have started it you are allowed to leave the scene. Communicate this OOC and write your character leaving IC. Do not hound other users to continue.

  11. A GM or someone should establish a posting order in large group settings. Please stick to a posting order in your roleplay groups to ensure continuity amongst players.

  12. Staff, at the request of players, will ping RPs that have not had responses for over 3 days. If you are unable to continue a scene or need more time, let us know.

  13. If you state that you are going to open for a role-play, do so within 30minutes unless you and your partner have agreed upon another time. This is both common courtesy and common sense. If someone has agreed to RP with you and you have not made a starting post within 2 hours, they can continue to seek partners.

Character Creation

  1. All of the information you need to create your character is located here:

  2. Character sheets should be no more than 10 pages long and should follow the Character Template. Exceptions to this will be made on a case-by-case basis.

  3. If you receive pointed feedback from a member of staff and simply chose to ignore it, your character will not be approved. Do not attempt to go around from one staff member to another to get your point approved.

  4. We reserve the right to rebalance your character if you are exploiting abilities or some type of loophole.

Bounties, Events, Quests

Bounties, Events, and Quests are ways that the story is experienced in Tenebris Realm. You can opt in to participate in these, and once you achieve Veteran status, can host your own bounty content! Death and Right to Kill is always considered active if engaging in staff content unless stated otherwise.

Events and Quests:

As this is a story-driven RP, your character will receive experience by participating in bounties and events the majority of time . We use a combination of numerical character values (AP, Skills, etc) as well as narrative achievements.

  1. You receive character development by participating in Events or Bounties. These are announced, respectively, in #events and #bounties.

  2. It is up to you to track your rewards and update your character sheet. Rewards are posted in #rewards-channel at the end of every completed Event or Bounty.

  3. You are required to keep tally of your own progression time. So, if you submit a character then roleplay, it is up to you to inform the staff team when it has been 6 weeks to receive your @Veteran tag. Same goes for the other progression levels.

  4. When your reach Mythic level you may forge your character into a Champion. Read more about Champions here:
